Legend Hernan Crespo Shows ‘Club Loyalty’ in Striker Selection for Argentina’s World Cup Mission

?Hernan Crespo is recognised as an Argentine legend having made 65 appearances for his country over twelve years and scoring 35 goals.

After having a tremendous playing career which saw him ply his trade in Italy with Parma, Lazio, AC Milan and Inter and England with Chelsea, he has now retired.

Recently, when he appeared on Argentinian TV show ‘Podemos Hablar’, he was asked to share his opinion on the Mauro Icardi vs Gonzalo Higuain issue concerning which of the two strikers should be included in the Argentinian national team that will travel to Russia next summer for the FIFA World Cup.

Reported via sempreinter.com, Crespo tried to remain diplomatic in his response, but his answer reflected his club loyalty.

The striker explained: “Mauro and Gonzalo are two different kind of players and the same goes for Agüero. If I had to choose only two attackers for our national team I would go with Lionel Messi and Paulo Dybala who are two incredible players.”

Argentina have numerous and frightening attacking options, which most other countries competing in next summer’s tournament would look upon with envy. Crespo continued:

“If I had to choose between Icardi and Higuain I would make my decision based on being an Inter fan. However, the two of them could also play together up front and in any case they could both profit by working together.”

Regardless of which forwards Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli selects, it is unlikely that goal scoring should be a problem for La Albiceleste; they will be a formidable force and one of the favourites to win the competition

Inter Director Confident Mauro Icardi Will Stay Despite Mounting Real Madrid Speculation

?Internazionale director of sport Piero Ausilio has acknowledged that interest in Mauro Icardi is inevitable due his blistering form, but insisted that 2017/18’s leading Serie A goalscorer doesn’t need to be ‘convinced to stay’ in Milan.

Speaking to? RAI Sport following Inter’s 5-0 demolition of Chievo last night, Ausilio heaped praise onto Mauro Icardi who was on target for the 16th time this season in just 15 games.

He said: “Icardi is very good and can still improve since he is only 24.”

“He has many opportunities to improve and the desire to do it, based on the work he does every day. He’s an advantage and added value for Inter. He is a force for this team.”

Icardi’s performances are catching the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs (most notably Real Madrid) but Ausilio’s is sure that the lure of the Bernabeu won’t be an irresistible one for the Argentine front man – who recently said he would ‘let the phone ring’ if Real called.

Ausilio said: “I do not think that Icardi needs to be convinced to stay at Inter because he has a long enough contract with us. The problem is Real Madrid’s, for they need to convince him to leave Inter.”

Icardi has been at the forefront of a brilliant start to the Serie A season for Inter. Napoli’s defeat to Juventus on Friday night means Luciano Spalletti’s side are the only undefeated season left in the league.

Ausilio added: “We are good at the top of the standings, but we have to be very realistic. We have done a good job so far, but anything can before May.”

“Everyone will have streaks, and in two weeks everything can change. It’s still possible to fail, but surely we want to stay where we are until the end.”

With Icardi’s goals firing Inter to the top of Serie A, fans will be hopeful their star man can stay in form for them long after the January window.

VIDEO: Ivan Perisic’s Priceless Reaction to AC Milan’s Shock Draw Before Netting Hat-Trick for Inter

?Inter Milan striker Ivan Perisic reacted unsympathetically when he found out what had happened to rivals AC Milan on Sunday in Serie A.

Warming up for Inter’s home fixture against Chievo, news filtered through that AC had been held to a 2-2 draw by the bottom club Benevento. To complete Milan’s misery, the point – which was Benevento’s first of the Serie A season – was confirmed deep into stoppage time by a flying header from goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli.

The result went viral, but other than Benevento’s patient fans, perhaps the person most delighted with the unlikely scoreline was Inter star Perisic, whose apparent reaction during the warm-up was shared on Twitter.

The Croatian forward went on ton net a hat-trick at San Siro against Chievo, as Mauro Icardi and Milan Škriniar also scored to help take Inter top of Serie A.

They are now the only unbeaten team left in the league after Napoli were defeated for the first time on Friday night by Juventus.

Perisic, who was heavily linked with Manchester United over the summer, has enjoyed a fine season scoring seven goals in the first 15 games.

For Inter’s rivals AC Milan it has been a bitterly disappointing start to the season. The new owners spent big in the summer in a bid to get back into the Champions League, but have so far been blighted by inconsistency and disjointed displays – typified by the draw with Benevento.

Inter Milan 5-0 Chievo Verona: Perisic Scores Hat Trick as Inter Demolish Chievo at Home

Sunday afternoon saw Inter Milan take on Chievo Verona at the San Siro Stadium, with the home team in great form as they won four of their last six games while the visitors only came with one win.

The opening 20 minutes of the game saw Inter dominate with possession as Gialloblu were consistently conceding corners.

The home side created multiple chances but it wasn’t until the 23rd minute of the match that they made a breakthrough with an opening goal.

Ivan Perisic scored for the Nerazzurri with a right-footed shot blasting into the centre of the goal.

Though attempts were made by Chievo to bounce back, it didn’t take long for Inter to get the double as 15 minutes after the first goal, captain Mauro Icardi stepped in to score.

An assist by Marcelo Brozovic let the Argentine forward drive the ball into the bottom left of the goal.

The remainder of the half displayed the host’s consistency and dominance in possession with chances created by the likes of Joao Mario and Antonio Candreva.

The first half ended with the hosts leading 2-0 at the San Siro as the Serie A top three looks to be a tight battle.

The second half saw the home side adding even more pressure as chances were being created by Brozovic, Candreva and Mario.

It didn’t take long for Perisic to get his double as he slotted in a shot from the left, past the keeper and to the bottom right of the net.

Inter further asserted their dominance over Chievo with a fourth goal just minutes later as a cross from Candreva met the head of centre-half Milan Skriniar on the hour mark of the game.

The Nerazzurri’s performance without a doubt deserves the top spot on the Serie A table as the Black & Blues showed no mercy in the attack.

A few minutes after the ball went in there was a delay to the match as Chievo suffered an injury and as a result, Nicola Rigoni had to be subbed off.

Despite Chievo bringing on new players and Inter subbing off their main man Icardi, the hosts continued to apply pressure in the attack by winning a flurry of corners but failing to convert chances created by their star players.

In the dying minute of the game, Perisic finally found his hat trick as he scored in the 92nd minute, leaving Inter fans to go crazy in the stands.

The match ended 5-0 as Inter Milan saw themselves leapfrog both Juventus and Napoli in the table to be first in the league with a tight 39 points.

The upcoming weeks in Serie A are going to be intense as these three sides try to battle to secure the Scudetto.

3 Key Battles Which Could Decide the Tie as Inter Pursue Their Title Race Hopes Against Chievo

Luciano Spalletti has decided to call up his usual best 11 starters for Inter’s match against Chievo on Sunday afternoon.

The Nerazzurri are still unbeaten and hope to narrow the game with Napoli as they bid to win their first Serie A title since 2010.

Although Inter have won nine of the last 14 encounters with the Verona side, Spalletti won’t take any risks and will need all his men to counterbalance Chievo, who had a decent start to the season and sit ninth in the table.

Here are three clashes that could decide the match.

3. Stefano Sorrentino vs Mauro Icardi

Sorrentino may be 38 years old but has proved that age is not a problem when it comes to defending his goal.

His heroics against Spal were largely praised by the media last week, and he’s certainly going to try to do the same against Inter on Sunday.

However, he will have one of the best forwards in Serie A threatening his side. Mauro Icardi is the league’s top goalscorer, having netted 15 times in 14 matches, he’s always thirsty for goals, and the match with Chievo won’t be any different than the previous ones.

2. Antonio Candreva vs Përparim Hetemaj

The pair are likely to clash on the pitch as Candreva seeks to control the left flank with Hetemaj coming at him in the opposite direction.

In his sixth season with the blue-and-yellows, Hetemaj is one of the central pillars of his side and never misses a game.

Despite a rough start, Candreva is, on the other hand, slowly turning better and better every time he plays, always providing numerous assists for his teammates.

1. Roberto Inglese vs Samir Handanovic

Inter’s veteran goalkeeper has just agreed on an extension of his contract with the Nerazzurri until 2021 and will be eager to make his fans grateful for the decision.

His team’s defence is among the best ones in the league so far, having conceded only ten goals since the beginning of the season.

Chievo are relying on Roberto Inglese to determine their fortunes, although the youngster is already set to join Napoli either this January or at the end of the season.

The Italian is doing wonders this season and will certainly be a tough challenge for Handanovic.
