Man Utd Face Delay in Perisic Deal After Inter Name Winger in Summer Tour Squad

?Manchester United face a likely delay in their ongoing attempts to land Croatian winger Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan this summer after the Italian club named the player in their 28-man tour squad for this month’s pre-season trip to China and Singapore.

It had been reported that United felt ‘confident’ and were ‘close’ to agreeing a fee with Inter that could total ¬£44m including add-ons. But the speedy conclusion of any deal was always going to hinge on whether things could be suitably wrapped up before Inter’s tour departure.

It was thought that Perisic was not keen to travel with the squad as he waited for his proposed move to United to be completed after weeks of difficult negotiations between the clubs.

But after a suitable breakthrough was seemingly not reached in time, he had little option but to report for duty on Tuesday morning and will now be heading to Asia where Inter will be playing a total of four games between now and the end of the month.

The United deal is not by any means dead, although through to full completion it will now almost definitely take longer than was expected just this morning.

Negotiations will certainly continue, and it may be that, if successful, United are ultimately left to announce a deal subject to medical and personal terms while they wait for Perisic to arrive in person from Asia, as they have done with both of their existing signings so far this summer.
