Francesco Acerbi apologised to Lazio fans on Instagram after a derby defeat: ‘I felt pain during the entire game, I should have asked to be substituted.’
The Italy international was sent off in the second half of Lazio’s 2-0 defeat against Roma on Saturday.
After the game, he apologised to Lazio fans for his performance.
“I had been feeling the pain for almost the entire game. I should have asked to be substituted, but I didn’t want to abandon the ship, and I tried to fight until the end,” the defender wrote on Instagram.
“I apologise to my teammates, the coach, the fans and myself. I will have an MRI scan tomorrow to make sure it’s nothing serious.”
