Inter Milan Breathe a Sigh of Relief as Mauro Icardi’s Knee Injury Is Confirmed Not to Be Serious

?Inter Milan have received a huge boost to their Serie A title chances, after finding out that the knee injury suffered by Mauro Icardi in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Torino will not be a significant setback for the star striker. 

The Argentine forward has been withdrawn from national team duty, missing friendlies against Russia and Nigeria in the international break this week.

Releasing a statement on their official website, the Serie A sleeping giants put the widespread fears of their fans to rest by confirming that the goal-machine will not be sidelined for a lengthy period. The statement read:

Mauro Icardi this morning underwent a clinical and instrumental assessment at the Humanitas Research Hospital in Rozzano.

“After taking a knock during Sunday’s game against Torino, tests results has since shown that the Nerazzurri attacker has suffered no significant injury, although there is bruising and inflammation around his right knee. Before retuning to Luciano Spalletti’s squad, Icardi will now complete four to five days of physiotherapy and an individual training programme.”

The 24-year-old has become one of the first strikers in Serie A, and has scored 11 goals in 12 league matches for his side this season. This lethal form in-front of goal has seen Inter  performing admirably in the league, and they currently sit just two points off the top of the table in third place – remaining one of the two unbeaten sides alongside impressive leaders Napoli.

Inter will resume after the international break at home to to Atalanta, where they be looking to continue their impressive challenge on Juventus’ Serie A crown. The Turin side have won the last six league titles on the bounce, and Inter will be desperate to push for their first since 2010.
