Mauro Icardi’s Lofty Inter Contract Demands Revealed Following First Offer Refusal

Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has admtited her client has refused a sizeable contract offer from Inter, and has revealed his staggering demands for the new deal to be completed.

Icardi has been the Nerazzurri’s goalscoring rock once again this season, with 13 goals in 22 games across competitions thus far – still a slightly lower total than would perhaps be expected, given his exemplary standards.

However, leading from the front as captain, he has still been Luciano Spalletti’s best player by a distance, and the club want it to stay that way. The Argentine’s current contract runs until 2021, but ?Inter have been seeking to extend this since the summer, with a host of European clubs, including Juventus and Real Madrid, reportedly sniffing around the striker.

And Nara has set out, as reported by Corriere della Sera and relayed by ?Calciomercato, Icardi’s demands.

After rejecting their initial offer of €7m per season, the pair came back with demands of €9m, more than double his current salary. Another sticking point in the negotiations has been ?Icardi’s release clause, which is understood to stand at €110m.

The club are understandably desperate to remove the clause completely, while the player and his agent are attempting, if not to keep it at that particular price, then at least retain some kind of clause for leverage in the next deal.

Despite the negotiations, the 25-year-old is unlikely to leave Milan in January, with his focus solely on guiding his side to a top four finish in ?Serie A.
