Roma 1-3 Inter: Icardi Stars as Inter Come From Behind to Win

Inter Milan scored three second-half goals and came from behind to beat Serie A rivals Roma with a performances that will see Luciano Spalletti’s side linked with a title challenge this season. Inter club captain Mauro Icardi put in a man-of-the-match performances as he led his side to victory and scored a brace for the second game in-a-row.

?The first half at the Stadio Olimpico was action packed, Inter looked certain to open the scoring when the ball dropped to Antonio Candreva in the 11th minute. However, the Italian snatched at the chance but as a result the ball fell to  Mauro Icardi who managed to miss an open goal from less than 6 yards out.

Moments later new Roma signing Aleksandar Kolarov hit the post from an audacious strike from outside the box. The deadlock was eventually broken by Edin Dzeko following a pin-point cross from Radja Nainggolan, the Bosnian striker demonstrated beautiful chest control before lashing in a volley to put Roma 1-0. The home-side hit the post again in the 1st half as Radja Nainggolan saw his effort crash off the woodwork with 5 minutes left of the first-half.

In the second half Roma hit the post for a third time, this time through Perotti, the Argentine’s shot from 25 yards out was inches away from doubling Roma’s lead. Having gone so close to scoring a second goal Roma could only watch as Icardi pulled Inter level following his calm finish from an Antonio Candreva cross.

Roma continued to push forward in search of a second goal but once again it would be Icardi and Inter who ended up scoring. The Inter captain received the ball from Manchester United transfer target Ivan Perisic, Icardi then took one touch before slotting the ball into the bottom corner of Alisson’s net.

Inter completed their sensational second-half transformation by scoring a third-goal and ending all hope of a Roma comeback. Ivan Perisic again got the assist as he floated the ball into the box from the right-wing, Matias Vecino beat his marker and finished the chance to bag his first goal of the season and secure all 3 points for Inter.

Arsenal Set to Offload Defensive Pair Shkodran Mustafi & Kieran Gibbs as Deadline Day Approaches

?Arsenal could be set to offload two further players before the transfer deadline, in the shape of Kieran Gibbs and German international centre back Shkodran Mustafi.

Mustafi has been linked with a move to Inter or Juventus in recent days, though a report from ?Mail Online now suggests that the club are ready to let him go if they can recoup the £35m fee they paid for him last summer. Mustafi’s fortunes last season were mixed, and to the surprise of many the Gunners are said to be ready to do business.

?Gianluca Di Marzio has however taken the story a step further by reporting the player has already agreed terms with Inter, and it is now up to the Nerazzurri and Arsenal to come to an agreement of their own. Inter want to take the player on loan with option to buy and consider him higher priority than Man City’s Eliaquim Mangala as it stands.

Utility man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also be on his way out of the club for a £35m fee with Liverpool and Chelsea interested, while speculation remains over the long-term future of Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez. But Kieran Gibbs could now be the next man out of the door at the Emirates, as Watford have agreed a £5m fee to sign him with the Gunners.

?ESPN report that the sum was agreed on Friday night, and that Arsenal are willing to sell as the England international has fallen down the pecking order after Sead Kolasinac’s arrival. Gibbs – like Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain and several others – is in the final year of his contract and instead of offering a renewal, Arsenal have opted to cash in.

Marco Silva’s side may hit a stumbling block when it comes to negotiations over personal terms, though the deal could get over the line before the transfer deadline at 11pm on Thursday.

Picking the Best Potential Inter Lineup to Face Roma on Saturday

?Inter Milan are hoping for an improved Serie A campaign this season and got off to a great start last weekend with a 3-0 victory over Fiorentina.

Mauro Icardi scored twice and Ivan Perisic – still an Inter player despite interest from Manchester United – also got on the scoresheet. Manager Luciano Spalletti has no injury worries, so who should he include for the giant encounter with Roma at the weekend?

  • Handanovic

?A tried and tested pair of hands, Handanovic will be looking to improve upon his haul of nine clean sheets last season.

  • D'Ambrosio

  • Škriniar

  • Miranda

  • Nagatomo

?Miranda has a new centre-back partner this season in the form of ex-Sampdoria defender Milan Skriniar, who has signed a five-year deal with the club.

Club stalwart Yuto Nagatomo should figure at left-back after completing the full 90 minutes against Fiorentina last week, with Danilo D’Ambrosio operating on the other flank.

?Former Fiorentina duo Borja Valero and Matias Vecino, both of whom played against their old club last week, should start alongside one another in central midfield.

Marcelo Brozovic is expected to play behind Mauro Icardi with Italy international Antonio Candreva and Croatia ace Perisic providing width from the wings.

  • Icardi

Icardi, the club’s captain, is a pivotal part of the team and will be looking to build upon the two goals he scored last week.

After grabbing 24 Serie A strikes last season, a career-best for the Argentina international, Icardi will be hoping to lead Inter back into the Champions League after a few season of underachievement.?

Eliaquim Mangala Looks to Complete Loan Move Away from Manchester City to Inter

Serie A side ?Internazionale have expressed an interest in taking Eliaquim Mangala on loan, after a move for Shkodran Mustafi failed to get off the ground.

Mangala’s current club Manchester City are open towards a loan move away to Inter and will look to close a deal in the next few days according to a report from Italian website ?Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Frenchman made 30 La Liga starts whilst on loan at Valencia last season, and helped the Spanish club finish in 12th position in a rather disappointing season.

Manchester City do not require his services for this season, after flopping for the English giants since his big money move in 2014 there hasn’t been a permanent place in the back line for the ex-Porto man under either Manuel Pellegrini or Pep Guardiola.

The 26-year-old has not played a competitive game for City under Pep Guardiola and in the first two games of the season versus both Brighton and Everton, the French international didn’t feature in Guardiola’s plans.

Meanwhile, West Brom centre back ?Jonny Evans has been targeted as a potential replacement for Mangala, as the Citizens look to prepare a third bid in order to acquire the 29-year-old Northern Ireland international’s services before the window shuts in less than a week’s time.

Wenger Fails to Rule Out Shock Mustafi Exit as Legend Blasts Leaky Gunners Defence

?Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has failed to rule out the possibility of Shkodran Mustafi leaving the club before the end of the transfer window, with Inter seemingly keen on the German World Cup winner’s signature.

Mustafi joined the Gunners for £35m from Valencia just last summer, but his future has recently become the subject of speculation and Wenger refused to present any concrete assurances when directly quizzed on the matter by the press this week.

Stoke City v Arsenal - Premier League

“It’s difficult for me to speak about any individual cases because we are now in the final seven days of the transfer market,” Wenger is quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph on Mustafi.

“It’s always very difficult to predict what will happen there. You have to make quick and sharp decisions, and you cannot plan that and come out in the press conference with how you will respond to any solicitation.”

Germany Welcome Home Celebration - 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup Russia

After a delayed pre-season due to international commitments with Germany over the summer, Mustafi made his first appearance of the campaign in the 1-0 Premier League defeat at the hands of Stoke last weekend.

Possible defensive signings have conspicuously not been rumoured and an exit for Mustafi would leave an already questionable defensive unit weaker.

Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson is less than impressed, ranting on Sky Sports, “How are you every going to win the Premier League with Nacho Monreal playing in a back three? Please tell me?

“Look at the goal against Stoke, I could see what was going to happen. This is Arsenal Football Club, you can’t be playing Bellerin, a right back playing left back, and Monreal playing in a three. What is it? It has to stop! It can’t keep going on like this.

“Arsenal have got players going forward in abundance, but you’ve got to be strong at the back!”??
