Who’s In? Every Inter Player Included in Their Country’s 23-Man Squad for the World Cup

With Italy failing to qualify for the World Cup, Internazionale have just three players going to this summer’s World Cup. While this is less than the club has had in previous years, Inter fans will hope their players can stand out from the crowd and make an impression at the tournament.

While Andrea Ranocchia will have to stay home and club captain Mauro Icardi misses out on the Argentina squad, let’s take a look at who will be leaving Milan for Moscow this summer…

1. Matias Vecino

Country: Uruguay

Year of Debut: 2016

Now a regular for Inter following his €24m switch from Fiorentina last summer, 26-year-old midfielder Vecino has been representing his country for two years and has quickly racked up a number of appearances for Uruguay. Vecino has more caps than most of the other midfielders in La Celeste’s squad and stands a good chance of featuring heavily in Russia.

2. Marcelo Brozovic

Country: Croatia

Year of Debut: 2014

Brozovic has established himself as a key component of Inter’s side and looks set to do the same for his country too. However, with the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric also in the squad, Brozovic will certainly have competition.

3. Miranda

Country: Brazil

Year of Debut: 2009

After failing to make Brazil’s 2010 World Cup squad and being left on standby in 2014, 33-year-old Miranda is finally going to his first World Cup this year. The centre back has become far more influential in the national side in recent years and even captained Brazil at the 2016 Copa America.
